How was my pregnancy? Part 3 Third trimester Jul - Oct 2014

Third trimester

It's the last trimester already also the toughest. Cos, it's heavy and kinda have difficulties sleeping at night. Having headaches, dizziness.

And then, it's so big, you will have to sleep on your side. Sleeping on your back, you are putting the weight of you uterus on the spine, back muscles, intestines and major blood vessels. This can lead to muscle aches, hemorrhoids, reduce circulation to your baby. It can also make your blood pressure drop and causing dizziness.

So, I also read that sleeping on your left side is better, cos it benefit your baby by improving blood flow and nutrients to the placenta. Also helps kidneys to efficiently eliminate waste products and fluids from your body, hence reduces swelling in your ankles, feet and hands.

I have consulted the physio therapists, they said as long as any position is comfortable for you to sleep, just go ahead with that. But, definitely not face down ya... ok, ya I lame... lol..

Have been thinking of names for my baby girl. Choosing a catholic name, since my hubby is a catholic and most probably, our child will follow her dad's. And so, we came up with three names; Charlotte, Edith and Valerie. Oh ya, actually long ago, before I even got pregnant, I already have a list of boy and girl names which I like stored in my phone.

So, eventually, we have chosen Valerie. As for the Chinese name, was sort of chosen my me also la.
Some people prefer to ask from some fortune teller. For me, I prefer to give my children names, rather than ended up having a name that you might not like? But of cos, again the Jack of all trades Mummy, Me..... checked out online la. Cos, Chinese words really do have meanings, and some said it might change your baby's life, blah blah blah la...

So, for myself, what I look out for was, since she will be born at the year of Horse, so I check the names that I want, but try to look for the better Chinese word for it. I learnt a lot through while looking for the best name for Valerie.

I wanted names like Ming Xi, Min Xi, Rui Xi. Ok, I like xi. Xuan also not bad.

Anyway, I was looking at this website.
http://thenewageparents.com/auspicious-chinese-names-for-horse-babies/

They told you what characters or radicals are considered auspicious and inauspicious for people having horse zodiac sign. And they even explained why ok?!

I copied some e.g. below. For more information, please check out the website.

The following Chinese characters or radicals are some examples that are considered auspicious for people born in horse year:
  1. 艿、芊、芙、芝、芩、芬、、芳、芷、苑、苓、茵、茹、莉、華、菁、萱、科、秦、秀、谷、豐、艷
(Good to see radicals like「艸」「禾」「豆」because horse is herbivorous and this implies the horse is well fed which will lead to a stronger and healthier body)
  2. 木、杉、彬、琳、杞、榮、、柄、霖、柔、杰、棟、森、楊、楚、村、松、樺 (Good to see「木」radical because horses belong to the forest and they love to gallop and wander in it. This increases the adaptability and enhances the horse’s efficiency.)
  3. 彪、寅、獻、成、茂、城、建、 莲、达、凯、南、美、群、進、 盛、 翔 (Good to see「寅」「戌」「」「午」「未」radicals because in the study of Chinese metaphysics, such words form a special resonance with horse zodiac and they have very positive and powerful influence on people born in the year of horse in terms of career, marriage, people’s luck, health, wealth and etc.)

On the contrary, below Chinese characters are considered inauspicious for people having horse zodiac sign:
  1. 山、岡、岳、岷、峻、崇、峰、崢、嵩、崑、崎、岱 (Not good to have「山」radical because for a horse to run on mountain road it is an uphill task. This implies one has to put in a lot of effort in their endeavors but it does not guarantee a favorable outcome. Not smooth-sailing.)

So, eventually, I have chosen the name as 林芮熙. Xi seems abit difficult to write hor, even myself, I have to refer to my phone Chinese dictionary at times. But, haha, you will learn as you write more often lo. Her name would be Valerie Lim Rui Xi. What a wonderful name. Wahhahahahaaa!

Week 34

Sad to say, even I'm already 8 month plus, but many times in the trains or buses, no one gives up seat for me! So, most of the time I rather spend the money on cab, fast and comfy.

So big big big liao... And suddenly some stretchmarks started popping out.

For the 9th month bb check up, you will be asked to do a GBS (Group B Streptococcus) test.

It's a type of bacteria that can be found in the vagina or lower intestine. About 1 in 5 women carries this bacteria. Hence, if found positive, she can pass the GBS to the baby during delivery. This may cause serious illness in the newborn. However, treatment during labour and delivery can help to prevent infection in the baby.

The test cost $66 in all. My result was alright.

During the last few weeks, suddenly the stretch marks got worsen. I have been applying cream and oil already. But it doesn't help much. Even until now, the stretch marks still remains. Pretty sad.
No more bikinis. Another sacrifice for a mama.

No joke. It was that red and itchy, and I think I got heat rashes too.

My third trimester was a little tougher. Even heavier, even hotter. I got heat rashes. So, I got a hard time sleeping.

Oh ya, the good thing about my pregnancy, many people got constipation especially during the last trimester (go read online for more info), but I am still pooo-ing well everyday until it's so punctual every morning.

But but but, I got piles! It got so painful till I have to go see a doctor. I was so ke lian you know... Lie flat on the bed, or sit down also pain. It's common for pregnant ladies though. Because the volume of blood circulating round your body increases. At the same time, high levels of hormone progesterone relax the walls of your blood vessels. The veins below your uterus are more likely to become swollen and stretched as the weight of your growing baby putting pressure on them. Hence, prone to having piles and varicose veins when pregnant.

I went for courses, talks and baby fairs, and gotten a lot of freebies. Milk storage bottles, mlk powder bottles, different brand of diapers, preggy mummy milk, baby lotion etc. I would suggest preggies to go for some talks, to know more info and interactions with other preggies... Also, freebies mah.. why not right?

I went for the KKH course, and they even showed the video of how baby was being delivered. Frankly, see liao pretty disgusting sia.... Till now, cannot imagine a baby can actually come out from there.. lol

Week 39.

push push push!
