Home Cooked Food!


Showcase some home cooked food I cooked in the past. Just to let you guys know that although it seems like I always going out having fun,  I still do cook at home for hubby and myself.

Have never really cook or done housework in the past, cos I ised to have a wonderful helper mah. Oops, I meant my Mama's helper. Didn't really know how to even start a washing machine, cook rice, wash toilet, blah blah etc la....

So, when we got married.... everything you ought to learn and also to share the chores with your hubby loh.

Wash clothes, hang clothes, take down clothes, fold clothes, keep clothes! Amazing right? or rather Crazy right?!!! Seriously?! That's not all.

You have to sweep the floor, mop the floor, wipe tables, wash toilets. And then, when you cook, you have to wash the dishes also ya, and wipe the kitchen. Oh gosh! Housework is like forever siaaaaaa..... I really salute to those housewife. Doing housework day and night, si bei sian de leh....

But GUYS OUT THERE WORKING, might not understand de la.. They thought they very ZAI, go outside work whole day long.

Anyway oops, side track too much liao...

Think I got some talent in cooking la, so I agar cook also taste not bad. My hubby always finished up everything, and commented it's yummy!

My hubby loves soup, so I try to add in a soup dish normally for our meals. Anyway, soup very easy to prepare also lah. I'll write briefly on the recipe of the dishes I cooked below. These are my version la hor, I just think it should be cook this way, and since it turns out not bad, so I share lah. You may change to suit your style.





 
Fried rice
Fry chopped garlic, next fry the egg, then add the mixed veg and hot dog.
Lastly, add the rice with some light, dark sauce, pinch of salt and pepper.
 
Butter fried fish with celery and carrot
Heat some butter, add garlic. Fry the celery and carrot for slightly longer time, cos it needs to be soften a little.
Lastly, add the sliced fish.
 
 
 

 
Japanese Curry
Fry the onions, followed by the meat (chicken, pork or beef also can).
Add the potatoes, carrots and water. Simmer for 20 mins. Cover the lid.
Once potatoes are soft, then add the curry cubes. Stir till dissolve.
 
 
 

Served it with rice. Yummy Yummy!




 
Bak Kut Teh
Always remember to blanch pork in a pot of boiling water first.
Remove the scum and rinse. Bring the water to a boil in a pot.
Add in the bak kut teh packet and some garlic.
For me, I always like to put dates and goji for most of my soups.
Boil for at least 1 hr. The longer the better.
 
 Stirred fry veg
Fry the garlic and shrimp, followed by veg. Add oyster sauce and a bit of water.
Add corn starch mixture to thicken the sauce.
Don't need to add any more seasoning.
 
Yummy liao!
 
 
 
 
 
Bak Kut Teh Mee Sua
If you have leftover Bak kut teh soup, don't throw it away.
Add mee sua, veg and egg.
Yummy yummy!
 
 
 
 
 
Stirred Fried Yong Tao Foo
Fry garlic, then the Yong Tao Foo.
Add oyster sauce. Add water depends how much sauce you want.
Add corn starch mixture to thicken sauce.
Don't need to add other seasoning.
 
 
 

 
 
 
 
 
Stirred fried chicken cubes with katsu sauce
Marinate the chicken cubes with the katsu sauce for at least 10mins.
Fry the garlic and onion.
 Add the chicken cubes, followed by spring onion.
Add water then the corn starch mixture to thicken the sauce.
 
 


 
Trio sandwich.
Tuna, ham & cheese and egg mayo
 
 


Carbonara
 
Boil a pot of water. Add some oil. add the pasta. drain the pasta, run under cold water.
Fry the garlic, followed by mushroom and minced meat / hot dog.
Add the pasta sauce. Serve pasta with the amount of sauce you prefer.




 
Dark sauce tofu with minced meat
Fry garlic, followed by the minced meat. Then, add tofu carefully, not to break them.
Add dark sauce, light sauce and salt. Add corn starch mixture to desired thickness of sauce.
Ready to serve.
 
Stirred fry bean sprout
Fry garlic, bean sprout, then spring onion.
Add some oyster sauce.
Ready to serve.
 
 
 

 
Fried bee hoon
Soak bee hoon and mushroom in water for half an hour.
Fry garlic, egg, then sliced meat, then carrot and Taiwan sausage.  
Add the bee hoon, followed by a can of pork trotters.
May add some salt and dark sauce to your preference.
 
 


 
Ready to EAT!
 
 
 
 
 
Porridge with broccoli and enoki mushroom.
Put all ingredients into rice cooker, add more water.
Add salt according to your preference.
 
 
 

 



 
Cabbage with egg
Fry garlic, then the egg. Add the cabbage. Pour some oyster sauce.
Add water, followed by corn starch mixture to thicken sauce.
 Add some fried shallots on top.
 
 
 

 
 
Dark sauce Sliced pork and liver
Marinate meat with dark sauce, light sauce, a bit of sesame oil and some corn starch
Fry garlic, then sliced meat, then liver.
Add dark sauce and a bit of salt. Add spring onion.
Add water and corn start mixture for thickening.
Lastly, add some spring onion.

 


 
Sweet and sour pork
Pork cubes coated with rice/plain flour.
Deep fry pork cubes first. Then set aside.
Fry garlic, onion, capsicum, tomato.
Add chilli sauce, tomato sauce and a bit of vinegar.
Add in the pork cubes.
 
Ready to serve.
 
 
 
Stirred fry sliced potatoes with mixed veg
Boil the potatoes to soften it.
Remove skin, and slice it.
Fry garlic, followed by mixed veg. Then add potatoes.
Add oyster sauce.
 
Ready to serve!
 
 


 
 Japanese potato salad
Boil potatoes, carrots and mixed veg.
Then mash the potato, add in the Japanese mayonnaise.
Season with salt and pepper.
Ready to serve. 
May add Japanese cucumber if you wish.

Steamed fish
Rinse fish properly, then rub with salt. Rinse it off again.
Placed fish on a big plate. Add light sauce and a bit of sesame oil.
Placed ginger slices and spring oil and tomatoes around the fish.
Chuck some ginger in between the fish to remove the fishy smell.
 
May put goji too.
 
 
 
 
 
Pork bone white radish soup
Blanch the pork bone, set aside.
Boil a pot of water. Add in radish, red dates, goji.
Add salt, light sauce, a bit of pepper. Add pork bone.
Boil for at least 1 hr. The longer the better.
 



 
Lotus root soup
Blanch the pork bones. Set aside.
Boil water, add lotus root, goji, red dates.
Season with salt, pepper, light and dark soy sauce.
Add in pork bone.
Boil for at least 1 hr. The longer the better.
 
 
 

 
Herbal chicken soup
Same as bak kut teh.
Just blanch the chicken. Set aside.
Boil the water and place the packet in.
Add in the chicken.
Boil for 1 hr at least. The longer the better.
Don't need other seasoning.
 
 
 
Great to eat it with rice
 
 
 
 
Pumpkin rice
This recipe is from Amy.
I don't know how's other ppl way of cooking.
But I like it this way.
 
Fry the pork belly, then the mushroom. Set aside
Fry the uncooked rice. Add dark sauce, light sauce and salt.
(You may add a bit more because you will add water later.)
Then, fry together with the pork belly and mushroom.
Put everything into rice cooker. Add water.
After 10minutes, add the pumpkin on top.
Continue to cook.
 
Ready to serve.
 
 


 
Sliced fish soup
Boil water in a pot. Add sliced ginger, red dates, goji and ikan bilis.
Season with salt and pepper.
Boil for at least half and hour.
When going to serve, add the sliced fish, tofu and veg.
Boil for few minutes.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
ABC Soup
 Blanch the pork bone. Set aside. Boil water in a pot.
Add in potatoes, carrots, cauliflower or corn. Followed by the pork bone.
Add red dates and goji. Season with salt, pepper and light sauce.
 Sometimes I add some dark sauce too.
 
 
 

 
Whatever I have at home, I just cook! wahahahaha
Oh, and decided to have mixed brown rice, healthier choice.
 
 

 
Sweet and sour sauce luncheon meat with carrot and potato
 Fry onion, then carrot and potato. Add chilli sauce, tomato sauce and a bit of vinegar.
 Simmer for maybe 5 to 10min till potatoes are soft.
Then add the luncheon meat. Stir fry well.
 
Ready to serve.

 
 

 
Tom yum chicken with potatoes
I bought tom yam paste from NTUC.
Marinate chicken cube with tom yum paste for at least 10mins.
Fry garlic, then chicken, followed by potatoes.
Add water, then simmer until potatoes are soft.
 
Ready to serve.
 
 
 
 
 
Sweet and sour sliced fish
 Fry onion. Add chilli sauce, tomato sauce and a bit of vinegar.
Then add the sliced fish. Stir fry well.
 
 *you may deep fry the sliced fish coated with flour. Guess it will be even nicer!
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Minced meat with Tofu

 Marinate the minced meat with light sauce, dark sauce, salt, pepper, sesame oil.
Fry garlic, followed by the minced meat, then the mixed veg.
Add more dark sauce then water.
Add corn starch mixture to thicken the sauce.
Pour the sauce over the tofu on a plate.


 

 
Stirred fry leek with prawn and mushroom
Soak the mushroom for 10minutes.
Fry garlic, then mushroom. Followed by the prawn.
Add the leek, then the oyster sauce.
If you want more sauce, add more water, then use corn starch mixture to thicken it.
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Steam fry gyoza
Pan fried the gyoza, then add some water. Cover with lid for 1 minute.
Ready to serve.
 
 
 
 
 
Gyoza in soup!
 
 
 
 
Stirred fry broccoli with cashew nut
 
Think I have overfry the broccoli, cos it gone a bit yellow.. Oops.
Boil a pot of water, add little oil. Put the broccoli in.
Boil for about 10minutes to soften it. Drain it.
 Fry garlic, then cashew nut.
Add the broccoli in. Season with salt and light sauce.
 
Ready to serve.
 
 
 
 
 
蛋炒饭 Egg fried rice
 Fry garlic and ikan bilis. Followed by mixed veg. Then, add rice.
Spread out the rice, toss until coated well with oil.
Add egg mixture, and stir continuously so that most of the egg mixture is absorbed.
Season with salt and pepper. 
 
 
 

 
 
 Tomato sauced pasta
I bought Prego tomato pasta sauce. But my colleague recommend Barilla.
Maybe can try next time.
Fry the garlic, then minced meat, followed by mixed vege and hotdogs.
Add in the pasta sauce.
 
For the pasta,
Boil water in a pot, add a bit of salt and olive oil.
Put the spaghetti in, till it soften or probably till your desired springiness.
Take it out, run under tap water, add some olive oil.
 
Pour the amount of pasta sauce you prefer onto the spaghetti.
 
 

 
Gotten some instant powdered miso soup.
I think it goes quite well... Wahahah
 
 
 

 
Gotten this seaweed mixture powder at Jurong point Japan booth.
 
 

 
Goes well with rice or porridge. Really taste good!
 
  
 
 
 
 
Stirred fry long beans with minced pork

Marinate the minced meat with light sauce, dark sauce, salt, sesame oil.
Fry garlic, then minced meat. Add carrot then the long beans.
Season with salt. Fry a little longer as long beans need slightly longer time to soften.
 

 
 

 
Black pepper pork chop
Marinate with black pepper sauce.
When fry the pork, you may add a bit more of the black pepper sauce.
 
Good enough already, don't need to add any more seasonings.

 
 

 
Stirred fry Chinese leek flower with oyster sauce
Soak the mushroom in water for at least 10minutes.
Fry garlic, then the mushroom, followed by the leek.
Add oyster sauce. Then add some water to have more sauce.
Add corn starch mixture to thicken sauce.
 
Ready to serve.
 
 
 
 
 
Veg with Corn flakes
Idea right?!! Testing testing la...
But turn out ok lei...  I fry the corn flakes, then add after cooking the veg with oyster sauce.
 
 
 
 
 
 

 
Portabella mushroom with ham and cheese
It may not look good, but its damn yummy!
 
Place ham and lotsa cheese on top of the mushroom.
Bake for 10-15mins.
 
Ready to serve.
 
 
 
 
 
Baked salmon with bread crumbs
 
I anyhow tried the sauce, and taste not bad ya!
Mix mayonnaise with few tsp of lemon, pinch of pepper.
Spread on the top part of the salmon. Coat with bread crumbs.
Bake it in the over for about 20minutes..
 
Ready to serve.
 
 
 

 
Salmon with teriyaki sauce
Marinate it with teriyaki sauce.
Pan fry the salmon.
 
Ready to serve.
 
 
 

 
Pan fried meatball and scallop
 
Marinate the minced meat with salt, pepper, light and dark sauce, sesame oil and corn starch.
I also added mixed veg. Roll it into a ball. You may need to put some corn starch on your palm.
Then pan fry it.
 
As for the scallop, wash well. Then add a bit salt and pan fry it too.
 
 
*Always like to try whatever I see in my fridge.
And if you realized, I don't do deep frying.
Unhealthy and also main reason later kitchen very oily leh...haha.
 
 
 

 
Braised duck
 Prepare the marinade (2 tbs dark sauce, 1tbs light sauce, 1tsp salt and 2tsp sugar)
Wash the duck both inside and outside.
Rub some salt evenly all over the duck, include inside the cavity.
Pour the marinade over the duck.
 
For me, my hubby and I doesn't really like those five spice, star anise,, blah blah.
 
So I just add a bit of cinnamon powder and cloves of garlic.
Place the duck into a large wok. You may add more dark sauce since cover the duck with water.
Bring to boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 1.5hr. You may wanna flip the duck, so that the other side is also fully absorbing the sauce.
 
Slice the duck into pieces. Ready to serve!
 
Yummy yum yum!





 
Braised pork
 
Boil a pot of water. Add in cloves of garlic and the pork belly. After boiling, then add hard boiled egg or tofu or tow gua. Add in light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, sweet soy sauce. You may add the amount you prefer by tasting it. Then lower the heat to medium, continue to braise the pork for at least half and hour. May add salt to taste. Continue to simmer using low heat for another 20minutes.
 
Ready to serve.
 
 
 

 
 Meat ball soup with veg and tofu
 
Marinate the minced meat with salt, pepper, light sauce and some corn starch.
Roll into balls. Boil a pot of water. Add salt, pepper and light sauce.
Put in cabbage and meatball.  Cook for half an hour. When serving soon, then add in the tofu.
May add some Hua Diao Jiu (Chinese cooking wine)
 


 
 

 
Dumpling soup
 
Mix minced meat with diced water chestnut and prawn.
Season with salt, pepper, light sauce and sesame oil.
Wrap the meat mixture on the dumpling skin. Dap some egg yolk at the sides to seal it.
Don't need to feel that you are wasting the eggs.
You can add the rest of the egg into the soup to make 蛋花.
 
For the soup, I added salt, pepper and light sauce for seasoning.
Red dates and goji for sweetness. Then put in the dumpling and lastly the vege.
 
Ready to serve.
 
 
 
 
 
 
Mee soup
 
When you just feel like having something simple, and don't need to clean the whole kitchen.
Just dump everything you see in the picture above, into a pot of water.
Season with salt, pepper and light sauce.
May add Hua diao jiu also.
 
 
 
 
 
Macaroni soup
Boil a pot of water, put in the macaroni, minced meat and sping onion.
Season with salt, light sauce and pepper.
 
All good!
 
 
 



 
Japalang porridge
 
I told you I like to dump everything I see in my fridge.
So, there's cabbage, carrot, potato and luncheon meat. And previously bought the Japanese seaweed mixture powder. Mix with it.. Yummy yummy!
 

 
 

 
Sweet potato porridge
 
Looks so pretty right. We used purple sweet potato.
We use rice cooker to cook our porridge.
My hubby is an expert already in cooking porridge.
 
Add purple sweet potato, red dates and goji while cooking porridge.
Season with salt and light sauce.
We added canned cai xin, to make it yummier!! lol
 
 
 
Home-made barley
 
Actually this is pretty easy. Soak barley for 30mins.
Drain the water. Boil water in a pot of water, put in barley and lotus seed or gingko nut.
Put the amount of rock sugar to your desired sweetness.
 
You may also add bean curd skin and goji. 
 
 
 
 
 
 
Did I tell you guys I have an airfryer?!
 
Just mix everything and put it in! 5 to 10minutes. Jiang jiang!
done! 

 
 

 
 

 
Easy to do Pizza
 
Just spread tomato paste on the bread. Put whatever ingredients you like.
Can be mushrooms, ham, pineapple, capsicum, etc.
 Just remember to put lotsa lotsa mozzarella cheese.
Go along with some Campbell soup?
 
Yummy yum yum!
 
 
 
 
 
 
Won't you feel happy and the accomplishment when someone finishes all the food that you have cook!
My hubby said its FINGER LINKING GOOD! lol.
